Where/what/how to eat in Alghero & Palau/San Teodoro?

We've heard the food is really good in Sardinia - is this actually true? Beyond the suckling pig we've heard so much about, are there any other local dishes we MUST try? We love all food, but especially love seafood and pasta which should hopefully be a perfect combo?!! Any restaurant suggestions would be amazing, or even tips on what to order or what would be easy enough to grab from the market and eat on our own if we wanted to?

Will be there from Sept 3 - 12, 2017.

Porceddu, Pane Frattau, Malloreddus, Bottarga, Culurgiones.

I love Pane Frattau.

And of course Cannonau wine and Mirto drink to finish.

Thank you all these look/sound amazing! Just looked them up. :)

Do you have any favorite restaurants to get the items you suggested, in Alghero or Palau/San Teodoro? Also, if you enjoy seafood - any restaurant recommendations?

I was looking up restaurants and came across the two listed below that had good reviews and look yummy - any thoughts?
-The Kings Sardinian Restaurant
-Ristorante Mabrouk

I remember one in Palau, but don't remember the name. It was near the big parking lot but it has been some years. I was always based in Santa Teresa so don't remember about Palau restaurants. But wherever I go, I ask the locals. In the old days I would ask the construction workers, they always had the best suggestions. But in the last 20-25 years all construction workers are Romanians, so that strategy may not work as well.
