Where to store luggage in Varenna?

My wife and I will be in Italy next month, and taking the train from Milan to Varenna on Lake Como. We would like to store our bags somewhere for a few hours while we tour the town, prior to boating to Bellagio where we will be staying. Any ideas will be very welcome!

I know Varenna well, and I don't believe a storage service for luggage exists there. The train station is small and often without any human help. I guess it's possible to negotiate something with one of the hotels, but only a few are located near the ferry and train station. It should be fairly easy to contact the tourist office in Varenna. They would know the answer for sure.

You could go on to your hotel in Bellagio first. Ferry boats run between the towns fairly frequently. Return to Varenna later or on another day and spend a few hours, have a meal.

It sounds like you'll be in Bellagio for at least a night or maybe more.
You can go back and visit after you leave the bags at your hotel in Bellagio.
It's a short relaxing 15 min ferry ride and ferries are frequent. It's not that expensive. The boat fare is 4.60 euro per person one way (3.70 euro if you are over 65 and travel Mon-Fri). There is no luggage store in Varenna, and if there was one, it would probably be more expensive than the round trip boat ride. Besides, it takes 30 min to visit Bellagio and even less to visit Varenna. Just enjoy the ferries. They are very relaxing. Try Menaggio too. They have classical music on Piazza Garibaldi every night (if you go in summer). The only issue might be going back across late at night (just take a taxi boat)

Thanks for the answers, we will just have to go back to Varenna the next day. We want to see why Rick likes it.
