Where to store baggage when climbing Leaning Tower?

Our family loves to climb buildings in Europe, so climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa is a must. We are taking the train to Pisa, and staying only long enough to climb the tower. I hear you can not take luggage with you. Does anyone know where I can temporarily store our luggage - only one bag each - while we climb the Tower? Many thanks!

Since you're arriving by train, leave your luggage at the train station.

The Pisa train station has a wonderful staffed luggage storage facility. We've used it. With your back to the station and your front to Track #1, turn left and go down almost to the end of the buildings. Turn left between the last two buildings and walk towards the building in the rear right. You will see a sign that says baggage storage in Italian (which I forget). The staff there will store your baggage behind the counter AND will ask for your passport to photocopy your picture. A piece of paper with your picture will be placed with your luggage. Then, when you return, you have to show your passport to get your luggage back. 3Euros per bag. Works great.

Could I ask how far the train station is from the Tower? I am not traveling to Pisa by train but by car and wonder if it is safer to leave my bag at the train station. Leaving Sat. and am excited. Flying into rain in Milan, though.

The leaning tower and adjacent historical grounds are a good 30-minute walk in from the train station. Or, you can jump on the local city bus that stops in front of the train station. There is a parking lot near the Field of Miracles but I don't know how full it gets.

If you are driving in Pisa, be on the lookout for the Zona Traffico Limitato signs. These are restricted zones with cameras that will snap pictures of your license plate. Don't go past one of these signs. Florence has numerous ZTL zones and Pisa reportedly has a few. Your car rental agency will rat you out.
