Hello,
I have two extra nights to spend in one city along the train route from Trani (a little north of Bari) to Milan this July. What cities do you all recommend? I'm considering Bologna. Other suggestions? Thank you!

Bologna is the last city I would stop in July. The heat they get is worse than Florence. I would stop along the Adriatic Coast. Assuming you want to stay in a city where your Frecciarossa train is likely to stop, I would look into San Benedetto Del Tronto, Ancona, Pesaro. There are many other choices of course, like Giulianova or Senigallia, but they are likely not stations where a FrecciaRossa would stop.

Thank you so much for the suggestions, Roberto! Now I'm thinking Pesaro since I'm a part-time opera singer and Pesaro has the Rossini sites!

Pesaro is the 2024 Culture capital of Italy, so if you go this coming July there are probably many special events going on. Book your accommodations ahead of time because it will be busier than usual (it’s a popular beach destination in summer as well).
