Where to stop between Nice and Forence?

We are traveling from Nice to Florence, not sure the easiest way hoping train. Where would you stop for 1-2 nights along the way.

Nancy, How about the Cinque Terre? That's a fairly easy trip by train (~6 hours) and a beautiful part of Italy (be sure to enjoy some Pesto in the area where it was invented). The trip from the C.T. to Florence is only about 2 hours or so (depending on which train you use). Check the Guidebook for details on each of the five villages, to determine which one to stay in while you're there. Vernazza is popular with many here, but you might consider Monterosso as well (larger with better selection of Hotels & restaurants). Happy travels!

Second Cinque Terre as a mid-point stop (and the pesto, plus throw in some foccacia and farinata, and you're talking about my idea of heaven). Absolutely beautiful, relaxed, and refreshing. You don't say when you're going, but if it's closer to right now, be sure to check ahead of time for what places are open. I recall a lot of places not being available during the off-season. The train from Cinque Terre to Florence is easy and fairly quick (and cheap, just taking the local trains, I think it cost somewhere around 16 euros for me & my husband this fall), generally with a change in Pisa if you want to do a quick day trip. Have fun!

I say either the Cinque Terre for the beauriful scenrey or Milan for the awesome Cathedral and the Last Supper.
