My husband and I will be in Italy in September. We will be passing through the Modena/Parma area. I'm looking for advice on if we should stay in Modena or Parma for the one night we'll be passing through the area. I appreciate all info!
My recommendation is Parma. We visited both last year and thought Parma was a delightful town, Modena less so. Parma had better signage to make it easier for tourists to find their way around. But either would be fine.
I was in Modena for about 3 weeks last year and I think I pretty much milked it dry by day 4 haha. Its a really nice place, mind you, but Im sure of all your options there is something more interesting. Bologna is a only a short distance away, so is it possible to stay there for the night? Happy travels!
Parma - because you can visit one of their wonderful cheese houses, if you have the time. Ham (prosciutto) is produced there too.
