Where to stay on our last night in Rome before flight out

We will be coming into Roma via train from Napoli to spend the last night there before we fly out FCO in the morning 10:30am flight. Any suggestions on a hotel for easy walk from train station and back the next morning?

Thank you!

In a similar situation coming in from Barcelona and flying out the next morning, we stayed at the airport Hilton which meant we could walk to the terminal the next morning. I highly recommend it. We took the train to Trastevere for dinner and then back to the airport and were there the necessary 3 hours before the flight without hassles.

Many hear recommend the Hotel Sonia near Termini, but I do not think you need to confine yourselves to the vicinity of the train station. Stay in the historic center and have a lovely dinner and an evening stroll, an evening to relish. Then have a car pick you up for private transfer to FCO. The driver I like to use charges Euro 55.00 door-to-door, or you can call a cab for a flat-rate of Euro 48.00.

Or you can use a shared shuttle for the mid 30s for two. The hotel will arrange it. Make sure your 10.30 flight is a directly flight to the US and not a connecting flight to another European airport for the return flight home. Big time difference. We have used the Hotel Sonya several times. For your request we have used the Hotel Contilla which is only a block from the south door of Termini.

I have stayed at the Hilton at the airport, but we had a 5:55 AM flight! For a 10:30 AM flight, I would definitely stay in Rome. Hotel Diocletian is close to Termini if you want top stay in that area.

we have 7:15 a.m. flight. Probably at airport by 5ish. Out the door by 4:30? Stay at airport?

Jon, mostly likely that flight at that time is a domestic flight within Europe. Far to earlier for a flight back to the US. So it is standard checkin and at that time of morning, getting to the airport by 6 or a little before would be adequate.

Great ideas everyone. Thank you. The airport hotels sound good. we will take our time getting to Roma on our last day in Italy... so sad... hit the sack and walk to the airport.

We stayed at Seccy Hotel the last night before our flight out. Didn't want to stay at an "airport" hotel with no ambiance. This was lovely. It's in a residential area. You can walk to the docks and there are numerous restaurants. Some shopping but not much really. Seccy will pick you up from the car rental and bring you to the airport for a nominal fee. 15 minute ride maybe. And they include breakfast. $100-$125

We had an early morning flight from Rome to Frankfurt to then transfer to a flight to Denver. We stayed at Hotel Abruzzi, looking out the window at the Pantheon. Don't know about you guys, but I don't sleep well the night before a flight so we did a lot of walking around in the neighborhood and had a great dinner. The hotel arranged for a taxi for us to the airport and it was waiting for us when we came downstairs 5 minutes early. Taxi driver was funny, he wanted to know what all we had seen in Rome, but mostly wanted to know if we had had a good time and liked Rome and the Romans. Our answer was definitely yes! Told him we would be back and are planning our next trip now. I vote to stay in Rome and take an early taxi, traffic is so light it's easy.

Whatever you do, have a great trip,
Mimi
