We are celebrating 30 years of marriage and are taking two weeks in Tuscany. We will spend 5 nights in an agritourismo just outside Voltare then 4 nights in Cretaiole (Pienza) and will then have 3 more nights to hopefully spend somewhere close to the coast. We have been to Cinque Terra before and have been looking at castiglioncello as a possible location. We prefer smaller towns and are not looking for night life. Natural beauty and a romantic vibe, maybe some time on the beach if its warm enough. we will be traveling later April to avoid crowds ...we will have a car and we love to hike and explore finding new gems along the way. I would love your help if you are familiar with the mediterranean coast line of where to base myself for 3 nights. thanks so much in advance...Jay
One of my favorite hikes in the world is in Maremma park, https://parco-maremma.it/en/, along one of my favorite coastal stretches in the world. I’ve stayed in Orbetello, Porto Santo Stefano, Pitigliano, Vetulonia, Massa Marittima, and Campiglia Marittima. I would return to any of them.
Where are you flying in/out?
Thanks so much... I will check these out
We will be driving from Pienza area to the coast... and fly home from Florence... We have 3 nights... Any towns along this stretch of tuscany that you would recommend
thanks much
April is a bit off season and a bit too cool for the beaches. Most places will be ghost places and beach club establishments closed until early June.
Apart from the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago the best coast in Tuscany is in the Maremma area. The official website is below.

I usually stay in Porto Santo Stefano, also because it has a ferry that can take you to the Giglio Island in less than one hour, so you can take a day trip there.
I always stay at the hotel below. It’s not a fancy hotel but the views and also the food is good. I also like the family running the place. Driving upthere may be a challenge for many Americans, but you are in San Diego so you can test your skills in some steep narrow road near El Cajon or near the San Vicente lake. They don’t put all their best rooms online, so I usually call them.

Another quaint town in the area, near the park suggested above, is Talamone.
Massa Marittima and Capalbio are two popular quaint villages to visit nearby (a bit off the coast, on the interior).
If your flight is very early, you may need to be closer the last night. I’d decide if you would want to do that or choose somewhere close enough that you could do three nights. Make sense?
