We are looking to spend a week on Lake Iseo. What would be the better town: Lovere or the town of Iseo? We have been to Varenna on Lake Como and absolutely love it! We are looking for a nice town to relax for a week. We enjoy cafes, wine and like to do short day trips.

Lovere or Monte Isola (on one of the largest lake islands in Europe).
I live nearby. Iseo is better for traveling around the lake by ferry and also to Montisola. Connections from Lovere are poor. Also Iseo has a pleasant lakefront to walk along while the one in Lovere is next to the main road and traffic is noisy. Lovere is one of the Borghi più belli d'Italia but a bit overrated in my opinion, you could visit for the day. Montisola is a good place for a day trip but stay there only if you don't intend to visit many other places because you have to first take the ferry to the mainland. Will you have a car?
