My husband and I will be leaving very early in the morning at 0620 back to the US and have decided to enjoy our last night in Rome in the city rather than at the airport. We will be taking a taxi to the airport rather than LE. Would appreciate any hotel suggestions (doesn't need to be fancy, we just need a place to sleep with a great location) and restaurant recommendations for our last authentic Italian meal. We will be staying at Hotel Smeraldo our first four nights of the trip, but wanted to try another hotel on our last night. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

First, the flight at 6:20 is NOT directly back to the US. It is a domestic flight so go through Terminal 3 and NOT Terminal 5 - international terminal. With a domestic flight at that time, arriving at the airport at 5 am is adequate. If you are using a taxi then about any hotel works. We have use Hotel Sonya several times across from the Opera House and near Termini. It is on the edge of the tourist area but still handy to good restaurants.
