where to stay in wine area near Barolo

We will spend 3 nights in the wine and truffle area near Alba Sept 7-10. We will have a car. Alba seems too big and we want a village that has restaurants and of course wine. I have seen La Morra, Bra and Monforte de Alba mentioned, but don't know which would be best for us. Any suggestions would be appreciated

We stayed in Monforte d’Alba at Villa Beccaris. It’s at the top of the village and there are several amazing restaurants in the village. We really enjoyed the views and our time there. https://villabeccaris.com/?lang=en

We stayed in a small apartment (La Rosa neo Borgo) in La Morra a few years ago. The village is very small but very convenient to Barolo, Bra, Asti, etc. On that trip we also stayed in Neive at a very nice hotel, (Borgese Camere e Suites.) With a car, you can visit many of the small villages. The countryside is beautiful - especially in the fall when the grapes are on the vine. Both of these villages are very small but atmospheric and parking is easy so they are good place to base yourself.

Personally, I might opt for something a little larger like Bra but we visited the city but didn't actually stay there.

The hotel in Neive is on Booking.com. If you're interested in the apartment in La Morra, you might have to book direct.

We stayed in Barolo at Agriturismo II Giocca Dell'Oca. Our host was amazing.

Thanks for the recommendations. All 3 of the places mentioned (haven't heard from the Rosa yet) are booked for our nights in the area. La Morra sounds like it might be best - being a hill town.

La Rosa in La Morra isn't fancy but it's very comfortable with a nice kitchen, washing machine, and parking right next to the apartment.

It's not a hill town like Orvieto, for example, but there are several restaurants and it makes a very good base for the region.

Alba is a great town to stay in. I would definitely not describe it as too big. Very pedestrian friendly. We visited that area three times during our two+ years in Italy. And you will love eating truffles in fresh pasta. We stayed at Residenz Caffe Savona twice and would stay there again. See if the studio with a terrace is available.

If you don’t have a car, or want to wine taste without driving I can give you contact for a driver. He even let our lab, Barley, go with in his Mercedes. Pm me if interested
