For how many people, what time of year, and are there any mobility issues? I stayed in Manarola 20+ years ago, but wouldn’t look forward to that steep climb at this point in my life.

Vernazza has no hotel per se and relies on rooms and apartments in small buildings which makes finding accommodation for 4 more difficult. Monterosso has the most capacity. Don't wait too long to book as the area has been reaching selling out this year.

Albergo Barbara: only has double rooms but clean, inexpensive, and great location right on the main square very close to the beach, easy walk to train station and to trails. Not for everyone in that you have to carry your bags ups several flights of stairs; rooms are spartan; some have a shared bathroom and some have their own (but might be external) bathroom; some but not all have AC. However, some rooms have a wonderful sea view and some without a view actually look out on the mountains. No breakfast but lots of cafes right nearby.
