Where to stay in Venice the night before flying home

Hello,

I am posting to see if anyone has a good suggestion for where to stay the night before we fly home from Venice.

We begin our trip in Venice and will have had a few days there at the start of our trip.
We then go to Florence for 3 nights and Montepulciano for 4 nights as a home base to explore the Tuscany region.

We fly home on a Sunday morning at 11am from Venice and are looking to see if anyone has a suggestion for a good place to stay the night before heading to the airport for a fairly early departure. Having never been to Venice before, we are also curious as to how much time is recommended to be at the airport before our departure. I was thinking 3 hours. Is that enough?

Thank you in advance!

is it a direct flight to North America? then 3 hours should be plenty. Venice airport is not that big.

I have staid at Venice Resort, a short distance from the airport with shuttle service. There are other hotels as well.

We stayed at a Marriott Courtyard which is a five minute taxi to the airport. The route is not walkable. The hotel does have a shuttle, but not sure how early it starts. The #5 bus from Piazzale Roma stops right in front of the hotel.
From reports here, the Venice airport doesn't open too early, someone will chime in.
Have a great trip.

If your flight is at 11:00 a.m., getting to the airport at 8:00 a.m. would be entirely adequate. I would suggest staying right in Venice, so that you can enjoy it in the evening. To get to the airport, you can take a bus from the Piazzale Roma.

I think 11 should be fine to leave early from the city to get there by two hours beforehand. Take one of the buses - airport or city - or a taxi from Piazzale Roma to the airport.

We stayed at the Anthony Hotel for an 8:30 flight last year. https://www.antonyhotel.it/
The hotel is nice and the restaurant is pretty good. They'll arrange a shuttle to the airport for you - 15 minutes - if it's outside their usual shuttle times. It's not super convenient to the city buses so we taxied but it's cheaper than some of the very airport hotels that were >$250/night when I was looking.

Venice is amazing, have a great trip,

We stayed at the Best Western Titian Inn Hotel Venice Airport. Their breakfast starts early in the morning, and they have an airport shuttle. There is a bus stop right in front, and the bus from Venice to the airport stops there.

We were able to store our luggage at our accommodation in Venice for the afternoon and spend the rest of the day there before heading to the hotel.

Where is the flight going first? If it’s a European destination, be in line for check in 90+ min prior to departure, if it’s going directly to North America, then 2 hours prior to departure is the bare minimum I would plan to check in, therefore you should try to be on line for check-in 2 1/2+ hours prior to departure.

You’re getting 2 very different types of reqs based on comfort levels. The way to go depends entirely upon your desire for that last evening.

If it was me, I’d want one more bite at the Venetian apple. I’d figure that an 11am departure is late enough to offer me a chance to stay on the island; especially since your previous accommodation gives you the chance to get organized for your last night in Venice. So I’d just search for a place near Piazzale Roma for a bus to the airport. My plan B would be same except a taxi from Piazzale Roma.

But an airport hotel is less hassle. There’s no “wrong answer”

If you do decide to take a bus to the airport, I suggest that you scout out the Piazzale Roma beforehand, during your first few days there, so you know where the bus ticket office is and where the bus leaves from. Then, you won’t be frantically trying to find it the day of. It takes the bus 20 min or so to get to the airport.

11 o'clock is late in the day compared to so many who wind up on flights around 6am and who really struggle to get up and get there in time.

For an 11 oclock fight you even have time for a (quick and early) breakfast and daytime travel to the airport. It will be so much better.

For an 11 o'clock I don't see the need to be near the airport overnight.
