Where to stay in Venice, Florence and Rome

I am visiting Venice, Florence and Rome in early Nov. with 2 other adults. We are staying 3 nights each in Venice and Florence and 4 nights in Rome. We would like a 2 bed and prefer a 2 bath condo or apt. We want a location close to major tourist sites. This will probably be our only trip to Italy and we want to see as much as possible in each city. A medium price is our target. Thanks for any advice.

A 2-bath will be more difficult to find, but Michael gave you a good lead. For Rome, there's also a site called "Rome Sweet Home" that offers self-catering apartments (there is also a hotel by this name), or check the Ron in Rome website for recommendations.

Do you have RS Italy Guide Book yet? If so, good. If not, I would suggest that you get one as soon as possible as it is full of the information you are looking for that we used when we just spent 25 day in Italy, returned 2 days ago.

We rented an apartment through Bed and Breakfast Association of Rome. We were able to find a two bed-two bath that was very comfortable. The booking agency was very organized. Check out their website.

http://www.homelidays.it/ http://www.homeaway.it/ http://immobiliare-case-vacanze.vivastreet.it/immobiliare-case-vacanze http://www.case-vacanza-italia.it/ http://www.subito.it/ The above sites are the most used by Italian property owners to advertise their properties. The top 2 are probably the best known to Italians. vrbo.com is not well known to Italians, therefore few Italian owners of vacation properties advertise in it. I think that vrbo may be affiliated to homeaway for Europe. Some of the above may not have an English version (but they often have the cheapest deals, so I included them). Virgilio (vivastreet.it) has the best prices, I find. Maybe because they don't charge to advertise in it so Italians like to advertise there.

Thank you, all of you. My travel partners have tried vrbo. I will research all the suggested sites. I've heard from an Italian source directed to me through a friend of a friend (aren't helpful people great?!!!) that Cinque Terre has had another rock slide on the "Lover's Trail" Does anyone have knowledge about the conditions of C.T. in November? Thank You everyone for your input. Ciao Peggy

Via dell'amore had a land slide that injured 4 Australian tourists last month. I think it's still closed. I wouldn't waste time at the 5 Terre in November. It's kind of dead off season and the weather in Italy in November tends to be rainy and/or maybe even cold toward the end of the month. There are many other places to visit on a day trip from Florence (like Siena, Lucca, Pisa and many other towns). Even Perugia and Assisi in Umbria (and/or Cortona in East Tuscany along the way) are only 2 hours away and can be done on a day trip.

Peggy, My friends and I just stayed at the Caramagne Apartment owned by the Pensione Guerato in Venice. 2 bedroom 2 bath with living area/kitchen. Very quiet and good location. In Rome we stayed in a first floor apartment right off the Campo Dei Fiori again with 2 beds and 2 bath with living area/kitchen wifi and washing machine. VBRO #257021. It is an outstanding location. Hope this helps.
