We are looking for a place to stay in Varenna prior to the start of the tour. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm staying at the tour hotel. I also looked at Trip Advisor's hotel list for Varenna. Make sure it is sorted by "Traveler Ranked" not some other stupid sorting TA has come up with, lol.

I think it's a good plan to get there ahead of the tour. I'm going to spend 2 nights ahead plus some time in Milan. What about you?

Is there a reason you haven’t booked a room at the tour hotel? Perhaps it is full?

We are so excited about our RS Best of Italy tour starting Sept.4. This is the pre tour hotel we booked in Varenna. It’s on the lake and looks to be very beautiful.
Hotel du Lac in Varenna. Make sure you book the Varenna hotel and not the Bellagio hotel of the same name.
They have been wonderful as far as responding to email questions I had about walking to the hotel from the train station and also just confirming our dates.. The hotel gets excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.
