Where to Stay in Tuscany

We only have a couple of days in early May to spend in Tuscany. We will be spending time in Florence, but want to spend time in the countryside. Which Tuscan town, within a few hours of Florence, would you recommend to stay? We will have a car, and will want to visit a few towns.

Thanks!

The easy answer is probably Chianti, but you have so many options, I'd take a look at this website, as it does a really good job of breaking down the regions: https://www.visittuscany.com/en/
Where are you headed next or returning the car, in case that helps--with two days, time is everything.

How many nights do you plan to spend in this Tuscan town? And which villages/towns would you like to visit from such location?

You need to plan that part first, then we can suggest the options.

Montepulciano is my favorite smaller town. Since you have a car, there’s several smaller villages in the vicinity to enjoy from that location, too.

Have a great time!

Rent a car in Florence and drive along the Chiantigiana (SR222) to Siena and sleep in the old town. You’ll need to park outside the old town in the car park but it’s a quick easy walk even with luggage.
The next day drive south on the SR2 and turn left on SP146 (https://lovefromtuscany.com/scenic-drives-in-tuscany/) and drive to Pienza’s old town. When you’re ready to move on go to Montepulciano before driving back to Siena in the same direction. This is why you go to Tuscany.
