Where to stay in Sorrento?

My husband and I are planning on staying in Sorrento while we visit Naples, Pompeii, Capri and the Amalfi Coast. We wanted to stay at Antiche Mura Hotel, but it is not available for the length of our trip. Should we choose a hotel closer to the town or one with water views? We're also looking at Grand Hotel La Pace, but it sounds like it's quite a walk to town. Any suggestions? Thank you!

We are staying at the Magi House in town. Haven't been yet, so I cannot give a review. however, the website is magi-house.com or you can find them on VRBO. I found all sorts of great looking places on VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) (vrbo.com). You get photos, reviews, etc.... Good luck!

You could check this b&b, we stayed there three weeks ago, and I highly recommend it:
"Villa Monica" in Sorrento, oh! We loved this place , great views, very good breakfast, spotless rooms, and the most wonderful host, Pasquale. (85 euros per night in February).

We stayed for 4 days at Hotel BelAir in Sorrento. It was fantastic! It's up on a hillside with spectacular views of the water as well as Mt. Vesuvius. We enjoyed the short walk to downtown as well as the walk back up at night. Check it out at www.belair.it

We stayed at Palazzo Montefusco Relais last September and loved it. It's right off Piazza Tasso (main town square) and very convenient to everything. The B&B was very nice & the staff was wonderful. We liked everything about it & would not hesitate to stay there again. It was approximately a 10-15 minute walk to Marina Grande where we often ate dinner at night or watched the sunset. The B&B is situated between 2 streets; one of which is always pedestrian-only and the other street is pedestrian-only at night. It was nice to walk right out from the B&B and have a variety of restaurants and stores nearby. Have a great trip!

I think there are a lot of good options for Sorrento. I stayed in 2 places. Hotel Il Nido was very pleasant, up the hill from town, with tremendous views of the bay of naples and vesuvius. They also have a nice restaurant, in case yo don't feel like going into town - which we did one night. The bus stop to catch the bus to Amalfi or Positano was just outside the hotel, about 100 yards - that was very convenient.

The 2nd Hotel I stayed at was the Hilton in town, as my Brother had hotel points, and it was free. I was not expecting much, but it ended up being a nice place to stay - a bit larger than i usually like to stay, but who can beat free.

After several years I only stay at Il nido. There are so many wonderful things to say about the people, the restaurant, the views!!! I look forward to my week there every year.

We were looking for a special place (like Antiche Mura) in Sorrento and found the Ambasciatori. It was not inexpensive - but was lovely. Great views from the property, outstanding breakfast, lovely grounds, elevator to the pool deck - excellent service, very, very clean. You will not be disappointed. It is about 10-15 walk to town and all the restaurants and shops. We stayed there at the beginning of June last year, still a little chilly with fun rain. Enjoy!
