Where to Stay in Sorrento as a Young Single Traveler

Hello, I have dedicated a substantial amount of time researching best spots in Sorrento, but have yet to find a hotel recommended for young singles? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

What is your budget? Are you looking for R&R, lots of activity, water view, pool? Be more specific. All types of hotels attract pretty much most ages, although some may be more popular with families or older travelers. I would think the hostel, which is very nice, or most any hotel in the town center a good choice.

I would like a three/four star hotel with views on Via Capo, but am not sure whether the best bet would be to stay in the center of the city. I will be there for three nights, and would like to do some sailing around the coast and really getting to know the town.

I am debating between staying in Settimo Cielo on Via Capo, or at on of the Hotels near the Piazza.

Any suggestions, I am worried that the hotels on the Via Capo will be mostly filled with couples, and might be to far from the city.

Thanks!

Emy, We have stayed on Via Capo at Hotel Minerva in the past and, though a lovely hotel, it is a pretty good 20 minute walk into town. You can hop on the bus but then you are at the mercy of the bus schedule. We are going in a couple of weeks and are staying right in the center of town. Really, you probably won't be at your hotel much, except for sleeping and breakfast, so being close to town and transportation would be more important, I would think. Il Nido is often a recommended hotel here, but it's also located outside of town. Check trip advisor for hotel suggestions for singles. Also, if your hotel has no view, the Foreigners Club is a wonderful relaxing spot for a drink on the terrace with an amazing view of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius.

Thank you for your response. Thus far haven't found a nice enough hotel in town that was reasonably priced, especially since I was only willing to splurge because of the view. I will keep looking.

Cheers,

Emy

Hi Emy,

I stayed at the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel (http://www.ulissedeluxe.com/hostel.htm) and it was amazing. It says it's a hostel but actually more like a 4 star hotel (as quoted in the RS Italy book). It was only between 65-70EUR a night. The rooms were very clean and very spacious. It was also in a great location (very near the Marina Grande).

They also had a breakfast you could pay for each morning (full buffet).

When we were there we saw many people in their 20's there. I think it would be a great place for you.

Check it out and hope you have a great trip!

Emy,

Settimo Cielo is a good choice as it's a fairly easy walk to the centre of town and (as I recall) has some nice views. I wouldn't recommend staying in the main part of town, as I doubt you'll find a place with a good view.

You might also check the Italy Guidebook or TripAdvisor for Hotel recommendations and price listings. Another Hotel in the same vicinity as Settimo Cielo is Hotel Desiree. It shares a driveway and beach with La Tonnarella (if I remembered the name correctly). Hotel Desiree is more "basic" but some rooms have a sea view and the staff are wonderful!

I'm not sure there are any Hotels which are specifically "recommended for young singles". Have you considered a Hostel?

Happy travels!

There are a number of hotels in Sorrento itself with marvelous views but I think you would find that they are not filled with young singles. Sorrento is just not that sort of place as far as the majority of regular visitors go and the hotels themselves are run on more traditional lines.

However having said that, if you go in Jul/Aug you are more likely to find other young single visitors in town. In addition there will be lots of Italian singles (both local and visiting) and they must go somewhere to enjoy themselves!

Given that you are likely to have to go out and about to meet other young people, you will not be spending that much time in your hotel. Maybe you could relax your criteria somewhat to eg clean, comfortable, reasonable and with easy access to the town and transport for major sights in the area. As someone has already recommended, the Ulysse would seem to fit the bill and also appears to have a younger customer profile. That may change of course with RS highlighting it as a value for money place!
