Hello! My husband and I will be staying in Sorrento October 15-18. We had heard that Hotel Minerva is a wonderful place to stay, but unfortunately they are all booked on those dates. Does anyone have any recommendations on a hotel or B&B? We would love a room with a balcony and view of the water that's close to ferries and restaurants. Doesn't need to be fancy. Any rec's would be greatly appreciated!
I've stayed at this wonderful B&B "Villa Monica"... it has amazing views, nice and ultra clean rooms excellent price and the greatest host ,Pasquale. Check its reviews in tripadvisor, I think everybody who has stayed there, love it (including me!) Congratulations on your trip!
Thank you so much for your suggestion! By the pictures, looks like a beautiful place. I will be contacting them for availability :)
ashley,
Although it's not exactly close to ferries and restaurants, you might have a look at Hotel Il Nido. They provide a free Shuttle that runs frequently and for views of the water, it would be a great choice.
Another hotel that provides fantastic views of the harbour is La Tonnarella. It's somewhat on the outskirts of town, but not a difficult walk to the main part of town.
One possibility is the Albergo Settimo Cielo, in the area of Marina Grande. TAll rooms have great views, and many have balconies. Their website is www.hotelsettimocielo.com.
I agree with Ken. We stayed at Il Nido on our first trip to Sorrento. Hopefully they still have their restaurant service at the Hotel. It is in the hills above Sorrento but the view from their balcony while eating dinner (great food) is to die for. We ate at the hotel twice on our 4 day visit there. The price of the rooms were reasonable and as Ken said they do run a shuttle service to a from the hotel all during the day. Check this gem out.
La Tonnarella is very nice, with an expansive terrace overlooking the Bay and Vesuvius. Hotel Desiree is a budget hotel next door, with a rooftop terrace. Sorrento is one of my favorite places in the world - hope you enjoy yourself
Last year we stayed at Hotel Antiche Mura based on RS tourbook. It's walking distance from the train station, city center, and the Marina. We booked directly with the hotel and rec'd a discount for paying in cash plus and extra discount for showing our RS guide book. There is a pool and some rooms with balconies, but not sure what the view is. A very extensive breakfast buffet was included. We paid 90 Euros per night after the discounts. It was early spring.
Hotel Continental? Shops restos etc of the old town on your doorstep. Also has an elevator down to Marina Piccola for ferries etc. A wee bit further along the road take a look at the Hotel Regina.
A bit more expensive (maybe) a place we really like, but with limited water views, is the Palazzo Jannuzzi boutique hotel on Piazza Tasso. Lovely bathrooms (big showers), great breakfasts, friendly staff.
There are a clutch of hotels in the town which are absolutely waterfront (ie cliff top) and near shops etc but they come at a price.
Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions! So many to choose from! I think we will try to stay reasonably close to town for easy access to ferries/restaurants etc. Excited to explore this beautiful area!
