Where to stay in Rome to catch morning flight

We will be arriving in Rome via train (from Venice) on a Tuesday evening to catch a 9:50 am flight on Wednesday. We're traveling with our 4 children, and want the least amount of hassel to get to the airport - but don't know where to stay. Should we stay near the airport (any recommendations?) or near the train station and get transportation to the airport in the morning? If we stay near the train station - what's the best transportation to the airport?

The Airport Hilton has a moving sidewalk directly into the terminal. The hotel is not cheap. I've stayed there a few times for early departures. I you arrive around noon, you will have time to see nearby Ostia Antica.

That's an extremely common question and it's very well addressed here: Rome Airport lodging Here's the first paragraph:
On many travel sites, this seems to be one of the most frequently asked questions. Many travelers ask the question differently. Most often it's phrased as, "I have an early morning flight from FCO and would like to know the best Airport Hotel to stay at – Can you make a recommendation?"

The most common conclusion to the question is that it really does not matter. It is as easy and cheap to stay in town and get to the airport whatever way, denpending on departure time. The seversal options are to stay near Termini and take the Express, but with 6 people, you may as well try to arrange a van service. A cheaper option would be to take the FM1 which you can catch at the Trastevere station. If you need to leave for the airport before 5:30 AM, then you are pretty much limited to a van service or taxi.

We stayed near Termini and took the blue bus to the airport when we were in Rome. The Bus travels when the train won't get you to the airport. However, I suspect you'll be able to use the other mass transit options. There is an express train to the airport but that's more expensive. The bus drops you right at the terminal. It might be the easiest way to travel with a family.

We were just in Rome and flew back a few days ago. We also had a very early flight. We stayed at a good-priced and nice hotel - Albergo Aphrodite (Aphrodite Hotel), which is a few steps from Roma Termini (main train station) in Rome. In the morning, we walked to the taxi stand there, and got a taxi to the airport for $45 Euros. The drive was about 30 minutes, he took us directly to our terminal. The Aphrodite Hotel was recommended by others here, and we really liked its great local by Roma Termini, and free wireless (ask for the login when you arrive).
