We will be 5 nights in Palermo, Sicily, and would love to find a lovely boutique hotel/inn not too large hotel that is conveniently located. Any recommendations? We don't mind staying in a gritty looking area if the hotel is nice. Has anyone stayed at the Ambasciatori?
I stayed at the Ambasciatori with the Rick Steves Sicily tour in March. It was great!
Claudia, I stayed there in 2014 as part of the RS Sicily Tour. It is very nice and convenient, with a wonderful terrace with a view over Palermo, used for breakfast and for drinks. If you look at booking.com however, you will find a number of convenient hotels and B & Bs with considerably higher customer ratings, some very highly rated indeed. While there are lots of sites to visit in and near Palermo, personally I think 5 nights in Palermo is 1 or 2 too many, unless you plan to do some day trips from the city.
We liked B&B Delle Vittorie. Amazing breakfasts, helpful staff. Our room overlooked Via Maqueda but was very quiet. Perfect location about halfway between Teatro Massimo & Quattro Canti.
Claudia,
I enjoyed my stay at B&B Delle Vittorie, My Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The owner, Giuseppe, and his staff, are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious.
This b&b is located between Teatro Massimo and Quattro Canti, and you can easily walk to all the main sights.
I took the bus from the airport but if you prefer a private transfer, Giuseppe will be happy to arrange it for you.
Enjoy your time in beautiful Sicily!
