Looking for a moderately priced small hotel or B&B in center of Palermo for 3 nights in September, in a good location convenient for walking to major sights, etc. Any recommendations for a great place, preferably a B&B?
Check out Giorgio's House (B&B) in Palermo. I stayed there in 2005; Giorgio met me at the train station and treated his guests to regional specialties for breakfast. WWW.giorgioshouse.com. I walked all over the central part of Palermo from Giorgio's. It's a fascinating city; I felt quite safe.
Check out BB22 (http://www.bb22.it/), a great B&B near the Vucciria Market and restaurants.
Thanks, Giovanna - I'll check out BB22.
Swan, I've heard about Giorgio's - did you go on daytrips with him? I hear he takes guests all around - to sights, restaurants, etc. What was your experience with that?
Pat, I stayed at a B&B, Casa di Zoe, on Via Roma. A lovely big room, with balcony, but being on the main drag, it was noisy at night(I am a light sleeper) However it was walking distance to and from everywhere, including the station.
Giorgio invited me to go along with other guests for a walking tour plus stopping for a drink. I declined but thought it was a great amenity to his friendly B&B. Giorgio speaks fluent English and has 3-4 rooms in his place. He will help with Palermo logistics when asked. There is a great bakery on the corner just downstairs from Giorgio's.
