Our last night we want to spend in Ostia and go to Ostia Antica and stay at a hotel with airport shuttle. We'd like to be able to walk to ruins, dinner, etc. Possible? Any experiences with hotel shuttles vs taxis? Thanks!

Hi Renee, don't want to disappoint you but I wonder if you have found a hotel? My memory of the area around the Ostia Antica station is that there is absolutely nothing except one pizzaria and one very busy road in the vicinity. - ^ - I looked on a map and see a few off-brand hotels right up against the beach. - Can't speak for shuttles, maybe ask the hotel?

Yep, what Nigel says. Travelers posting here who have wanted to stay near Ostia have ended up at the usual airport hotels, which tend to be spendy and low on ambience.
