We’ll be in the Naples area for 3 nights & want to see the city, the archaeological museum & Pompeii. We’ll most likely travel by train & would like to have recommendations on a wonderful B&B experience. We want to stay someplace that’s exceptional & above the usual B&B stay. Interesting & informed hosts, beautiful property, delicious food & the perfect location for seeing the excavations & the museum.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Search hotels on booking.com. Our hotel is luxurious, but not a B&B [never having stayed at one]. We have dinners at Amici Miei, one of our top 5 in Italy.
To get to Pompeii you go do downstairs at Napoli Centrale [the main station] to Napoli Garibaldi and buy tickets from the window or news stand for the next train to Pompeii Scavi. Have your valuables secreted under your clothing and hold on to any type bag. At the ruins there are licensed guides conducting small group tours.
Using a hotel search engine, enter the location where you want to stay, then check the properties that come up.
As a key word use CHIAIA, which is a better area of Naples' city center.
To visit Pompeii maybe the station area would be more convenient, since you need to take the train, however I don't like the area near the Naples' station, therefore I'm not going to recommend it. Besides from Chiaia area (Piazza Amedeo Station) you can take the Metro (line no. 2) or the Metropolitano Trenitalia train and be at the Garibaldi Station (where the Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii/Sorrento departs) and be there in minutes.
I agree with Roberto. Chiaia is a nice area to stay, as well as Santa Lucia.
I stayed at B&B Lex Room Santa Lucia a few months ago and it was a great place.

Has a lovely balcony to sit out and is near several good restaurants. There's also a taxi stand less than a block away which made it easy to get to the airport for an early flight. The air conditioning in the apartment was very good
