Where to stay in Milan?

We will be in Milan for two nights at the end of October and are looking for recommendations for hotels. We have a VERY early flight home (6:00 a.m.). We would like to stay in Milan, so does anyone know how easy it is to get to Malpensa from Milan in the early morning hours?

Sherry-

We had to fly out of Malpensa early several years ago and ended up just staying in a hotel Rick Steves recommended that is right by the airport. Be aware that there is nothing around it so you wouldn't want to arrive until you were done seeing the city. Even though there is a nice shuttle that takes you to the airport from downtown, you want to be sure of the times it runs and how early you'll have to get up as the ride is about 30-40 minutes I think. You might want to stay one night in town, leave your luggage there the following day and then head out to the hotel near Malpensa in the evening. (There was a fairly decent restaurant in the hotel.)

A nice place to stay in the city(not mentioned in the book)is a place called Antica Leonardo Locanda. We just stayed there and it is just down the street from the Last Supper and a 15 minutes nice walk to the duomo and sforza castle. Clean, breakfast, internet, friendly, etc.
