Where To Stay in Lucca

We only have 2.5 days in Lucca, but wanted to get a look/feel for the town. We are coming in by train on our way to Cinque Terre and wanted to stay in a quiet area accessible to the sites of the town. Suggestions?? We alway stay in B&Bs. My guess is anywhere withion the walls will work :)

We stayed at the La Boheme B&B, recommended by Rick Steves. The location inside the walls doesn’t get a lot of traffic, but there was one group of people walking below our window late on a Friday night/very early Saturday, talking very loudly. We heard them through the closed glass window, and it woke us up. Still, for the location, room, and breakfasts (plus the 2 for 1 discounted Puccini performance tickets they offer), it’s a winner.

Take a look at: Casa San Jacopo al Giardino.
They are within the walls, in a quiet part of the town. We enjoyed our stay there.

Have also stayed at La Boheme B&B and had a great experience.

Anywhere inside the walls is within reach of town. The town can be walked in 20 minutes east/west and 15 minutes north/south so everything is within reach. The town will seem much bigger because is is confusing and you will walk in circles but everything is close enough.

Via Fillungo is the main drag and the busiest part of town so if you really want quiet stay further from there but since there is no traffic in town the noisiest part of town living is the emptying of recycling containers. That's hard to predict while making reservations but the city services that clear out all the leftovers of the bust town are the busiest part of life there.

Have a great trip,
