Arriving in Lucca by train in September. Suggestions for accommodations? Need twin room for one night prefer within walls.
I stayed at the Hotel Palazzo Alexander in 2012 and it was absolutely fantastic. It's 90E for a single room. http://www.hotelpalazzoalexander.it/
If you're looking for a b&b I can recommend La Romea. Great location, breakfast, house, hosts.....
I have stayed at both of those places and would highly recommend either!
I would recommend the Hotel Ilaria http://www.hotelilaria.com/en/
Here's a small, homey, budget option from Rick's Italy book, near the train station: Le Violette B&B.
My husband and I are leaving for Italy/Sicily on June 5th and staying two nights at B&B Le Violette. Emailing back and forth she was very friendly and accomodating. They also have a washer to use!! I believe in Rick's book it said 5 euros for the use of the washer. We are also taking a cooking class in Lucca.
hope this helps and have fun in Italy!!
Thank you all for the great suggestions. Am checking dates and prices now. Appreciate the help!
Since you are traveling by train and staying only one night, Hotel Rex would be a good fit for you. It's next to the train station. It isn't inside the walls, but it is just across the street from one of the gates that takes you in. They have bikes available for their guests and they have a good breakfast.
