We will be two nights in Genoa. What are good places to stay and what shall we do there?
I go to Genoa each year fo business and stay at the Villa Pagoda hotel in Nervi, a suburb of Genoa. The area is lovely with the most amazing villas - obviously quite a wealthy part of town. It is out of the main area of Genoa but is quite accessible by train a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel overlooks the sea and has private access to the promonade. The staff all speak excellent english and the restaurant has the best food. Some of the best I have eaten in Italy. The breakfast is good too. The front rooms overlook the sea and even the side rooms have good views. I really look forward to staying there each year.
There are some good galleries virtually next door to the hotel and lovely gardens. In Genoa proper head to the old part and the alley like streets. There is a surprise around each corner. They take a little getting used to as they are look a bit 'dodgy' but they aren't. I'm sure you'll fill 2 days there easily.
