We have 1 night day/night in Florence early October before catching a train to Milan the next day. Any good accommodation suggestions to be central yet simple to the train station ?
The historic center is so compact that almost any hotel there will be walking distance to the train station

Station names:
Firenze SM Novella
Milano Centrale
Stay within walking distance of the Santa Maria Novella train station.
I'll dig up the name and DM you with the place we stayed. It was perfect; great view of the Duomo but really convenient for the train.
Yes, Florence is surprisingly compact and easy to walk but not all of the 'sights' are open every day of the week, and there are only so many you can manage with just 1 full day to work with. Do you know which day(s) you'll be in the city, and which of the attractions you wish to see?
Thank you everyone.
It helps to have some idea of what to expect.
It is a quick pass through. We should be in the city early afternoon, Wednesday 01/10/25 and leave mid to late afternoon on the 2nd. I’ll look forward to hearing your recommendation on the hotel with a view of the Duomo.
Again, thanks everyone.
Doesn't have a view of the Duomo, but google "Hotel California" (yes, that's really the name) and see what you think. Great place to stay and one can easily walk to anywhere.
We stayed at The Hotel Balesteri, on the Arno, centrally located. It was nice (30 years ago).
We stayed at Hotel Laurus al Duomo and walked to/from the train station. Nice view from the rooftop. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tuTjSYNoYmWhE4jWA
