We have 2 nights in Florence (rushed I know) and then 3 nights for the coast. I have stayed in Sorrento before, and was wondering if we should try Positano this time. Any suggestions on where to stay? 1) Florence and then 2) either in Positano or in Sorrento. Prefer the small, quiet charm...(i think we have all heard that!) Thanks for advice. Kim
I like Badia in Florence http://www.badiafiorentina.com/?act=home&l=en TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187895-d1474431-Reviews-Badia_Fiorentina_Guesthouse-Florence_Tuscany.html & Hotel California in Positano http://www.hotelcaliforniapositano.it/uk/index_uk.htm TripAdvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g194863-d550823-Reviews-Hotel_Albergo_California_Positano-Positano_Amalfi_Coast_Campania.html. One caveat about Hotel California is that Maria can be a bit of a mess on details when you get there so confirm in writing and take a copy of your confirmation. And skip her recommendations for the restaurant where the guy will come pick you up. Check out Bruno's just up from the hotel- great food, reasonably priced, outdoor tables over looking the Mediterranean. For my last 4 trips I have gone by train or train and ferry from Florence to Positano and stayed at Albergo California- and loved it!!!
Not knowing your budget, I would suggest Hotel Poseidon in Positano. I would also suggest Le Tre Sorelle on the beach in Positano for dinner. We had wonderful pizza and salad and great people watching!
I think you have planned it right- I would prefer 2 nights Florence and 3 on the coast than the other way round. Relais Tiffany in Florence is really nice and not all that expensive- http://relais-tiffany-firenze.com/ I can't remember where we stayed in Positano- anywhere that is walking distance to the beachfront would please me!
If you have a car stay at Agriturismo St Alfonso in Furore. Its in between Amalfi and Positano. Michela is a gourmet chef. Its fun to eat out during the day and dine with her at night.
