Need recommendations for places to stay in Florence for 22 & 23 Sept. hopefully for E140 or less a night and within walking distance to sights. Nothing fancy, just clean and with two twin beds and a bath.
Stayed in 2 places there. Hotel Accademia and Casa Rovai. Both great stays. If I were to return I'd opt for Casa Rovai simply because of the owner, Anna. Meets all of your criteria.
Have a wonderful trip.
We stayed at the Dream Domus. Loved it. Walked to everything. www.florencedream.it
Last summer I stayed in Hotel California, and I enjoyed it a lot. It should be under your price range, and it is about a block away from the Duomo, very convenient and well located.
Two years ago we used Hotel Basilea. Most everything is in walking distance in Florence. Hotel was about two blocks north of the train station and down a small side street. Worked well for us. Try hotelbasilea.net.
Try venere.com for a complete list, but Hotel Bigallo fits your budget and is centrally located. Also, I have had luck finding lodgings by emailing the hotel directly, even when their website says that there is nothing available.
We were quite pleased with the Hotel Delle Telle which is near everything including the train station. Check it out on Trip Advisor.
Charlie and Paulo were super helpful on our visit.
As long as you are somewhere between the train station, San Lorenzo market and the Pitti Palace, Florence is COMPLETELY walkable. I've enjoyed Hotel Belletini near Duomo, Hotel Costantini (right on va Calzuaioli between Duomo and Pza Signoria), Hotel La Scaletta (have stayed here 4 times near Pitti Palace and my FAVORITE restaurant, la Ristorante Galleria). Hotel Pendini at Pza Repubblica, I think (might be just over budget, but worth a look) Hotel California was a serviceable 1-night stop on one "emergency" visit to Florence to replace a lost passport at the American Consulate, between Duomo and Accademia, but I liked the other 3 better.
Have always wanted to stay in the Torre Guelfa right near Uffizi, but never worked out. Check out venere.com for a big selection, easily narrowed by stars, price, location.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Many places were already booked but I did find a reservation at Hotel Pendini.
