Next June l will attend a language school in Florence for a month. I was thinking about renting an apartment in Il Cure or Fiesole and taking the bus into the city center. If I stay in il Cure or Fiesole I would be around the locals and able to practice my Italian. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.
Le Cure is a great neighborhood, quiet and mostly residential but within 10 minutes of Piazza San Marco by frequent bus. You could even walk into the city center if you wanted. I've rented there and can highly recommend it. The Libertà/Savonarola area between the ring road and train tracks is another nice area, although busier. It's also mostly local and has a great Esselunga supermarket. Fiesole, while beautiful and cooler, is just a bit too far away for my taste and there are fewer bus options (basically just #7).
Edit: Corrected name of neighborhood. I should have realzed my error when I first posted. Thanks Iachera for pointing that out.
We love the Hotel Balesteri, which is on the Arno, not far from the main square.
Please: correct name is LE Cure
