Where to stay in Cinque Terre

We are planning to be in Cinque Terre from June 5-9. Which town should we stay in and what is a good hotel/penzione/B&B. Thank you so much!

The 5 towns/villages are each different (from one another). Our answers will be more useful, to you, if you tell us a little more about what you're looking for, your interests and preferences

This will be our first trip to Italy, so I don't know a whole lot other than a friend said that we need to go there. We are planning on arriving from Rome on June 5 and leaving for Florence on June 9.

Okay.Do you have a book that covers the Cinque Terre (CT), where you might have browsed it to have a basic idea of what the CT is, what it offers you that you'd find of interest for 4 or 5 days?
Or done any internet research yet--something that would give us some idea of what you're looking for, so that we can make better suggestions?

Hi Steve. Monterosso is the largest of the 5 towns & the most flat whereas the other towns are more "hilly". I don't know if this is an issue or not but for some people it is. Monterosso has the most amenities, retaurants, shops, etc. Vernazza is very popular with tourists but it is smaller than Monterosso.

I enjoyed the Hotel Margherita in old-town Monterosso but there are a lot of lodging options to choose from. First narrow your decision down to which town you'd like to stay in & then re-post your question & we can give specific lodging suggestions. I often use TripAdvisor to find lodging; I find the reviews from other travelers helpful.

The CT will be fairly crowded in June and your lodging options might be somewhat limited because many places are already booked for that time. I would book as soon as possible.

Steve - My favorite place among many in Cinque Terre is carla's B&B -- http://www.nerinarooms.it/
Located in Vernazza, directly on the harbor next to Al Castello it is a perfect location to see the sights of CT. Please walk the trail from Manarola to Riomaggiore - this section is called The Via dell'amore(lovers path0 , and is mostly flat and paved , with a Cafe halfway for a cold one. Only about a mile section but - check out the pic!!
