My fiance and I will be traveling to Rome for our honeymoon in October for three nights and we would like to stay in the Campo Di' Fiore area. Can you recommend a romantic and afforable hotel in this area.
FWIW, you're likely to get more helpful responses if you share what your idea of "affordable" is.
I would like to stay below $250 per night.
Check out Hotel Smeraldo. There are lots of discussions on it elsewhere, so I'll just mention it without a lot of elaboration. But, we loved it!
We stayed at Hotel Camp de Fiori. www.hotelcampodefiori.com. We booked the cheapest room that was very small with no view but nicely done with a new bathroom. Other rooms are nicer. The hotel has a small roof top terrace with great views, professional service, quick response and an ok breakfast.
We have stayed at both Hotel Campo De Fiori and Smeraldo (different trips). For a honeymoon I would agree with Karen and say definitely Hotel Campo De Fiori. The rooms have been redone, it's right on one of the corners of the campo, and in a great location. The fruit and vegetable market during the day is fun and the campo transforms at night with people spilling out of the restaurants and bars. From there you can walk anywhere.
We found an apartment in October at Palazzo Olivia for 130 euros per night. It is mid-way between Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. We have not stayed there prior, but it is highly recommended on Trip Advisor. Check out the photos and availability at their website, http://www.palazzo-olivia.it/. Buona fortuna!
We are also staying at an apartment (VRBO) in Campo Di'Fiore this June. Much cheaper and roomier than a hotel. A good friend did the same last year and loved it.
Thanks for all of the input. I broke down and did priceline for a four star hotel (priceline's pick). We are staying at Hotel Atlantico and I am panicking now because your recommendations look so much better!
Yes, we too stayed in an apartment around the Campo dei Fiori area. Apartments seem to be vastly cheaper and roomier. However, the Atlantico seems to be a nice hotel so don't worry about.
