Where to stay in Bologna, Italy

Hello, my husband and I are going to stay in Bologna for one night in October. Can anyone recommend a place to stay that is close to the center?

Thanks

Tanya

You might go on Tripadvisor.com and Venere.com to get more hotel reviews in Bologna than you are likely to get here.

Get restaurant recommendations, too. Bologna has the best food in Italy!

Use www.venere.com to find a good hotel. Most of the nice ones are not far from the train station, and within walking distance to the main piazza.

We stayed in Hotel Europa in May, found it on venere.com

Last Sept. we stayed at Albergo delle Drapperie. It's right near Piazza Maggiore in the center, and is an easy walk from the train station. It's a Rick Steves kind of place; you go up 2 flights of stairs to get to it, small (not a big-bus chain hotel). It had clean rooms and a friendly front desk staff. You can find their web page with a google search if you're interested.

I stayed at the Al Cappello Rosso in the Piazza Maggiore area. I found it on venere and also checked the reviews on trip advisor. I thought it was great with a good breakfast and a safe in the room large enough for my laptop - bonus. I'd certainly stay in this area again. Close to all the historical sites and good restaurants.
