Where to stay for 6-7 days in Dolomiti

We are planning a trip to the Dolomiti in June and have read that we should stay in 2 locations. Castelrotto and Cortina D'Ampezzo were suggested so that we can walk many of the most well known trails. We are physically fit 60 somethings that don't want to pack hiking boots but would love to walk some trails. Any suggestions on accommodations?

A number of years back my gang stayed in Castelrotto for a similar period of time. We were pretty pleased with the variety of trails and loved stopping at the huts for their rustic lunches.

You'll get lots of opinions from a whole lotta directions - take a look at each suggestion, including some pdf maps from the internet to get a feel for trails in those various areas. A few of the areas have lifts up, requiring zero hiking. Just hop off take a look around and back down the lift without a single step of actual hiking.

Safe Travels!

I second Paul's idea. Ortisei is the most convenient of the three. You can take multiple cable cars and gondolas from its town center.
