We are planning a trip to the Dolomiti in June and have read that we should stay in 2 locations. Castelrotto and Cortina D'Ampezzo were suggested so that we can walk many of the most well known trails. We are physically fit 60 somethings that don't want to pack hiking boots but would love to walk some trails. Any suggestions on accommodations?
Personally I wouldn’t bother with Castelrotto. I’d go with any of the three (Ortisei, St. Christina, Selva) in the Val Gardena.
We stayed here.
I second Paul's idea. Ortisei is the most convenient of the three. You can take multiple cable cars and gondolas from its town center.
Thanks everyone!
We stayed 5 nights in http://www.ustariaposta.it/en/
It’s a fantastic location if you want to hike. Many places to go and the people at Holimites https://www.holimites.com/en/ were very helpful in arranging a Via Ferrata for us.
It’s not a fancy hotel but cheap and cheerful and if you are there to hike (or bike), it’s perfect.
Thanks Lony!
