Where to stay and what tours to book to visit the Vatican by 7am during Jubilee in June, 2025

I will be attending the Jubilee events in Rome June 14-18, and want to stay closeby the Vatican as well as see other sites like the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Roman Forum. Is it better to stay close to the Vatican and walk there to arrive by 7am, or stay in the city center and take a taxi/Uber, public transportation, or arrange for a tour that includes transporation? Is there a tour guide service that will pick you up at your hotel and transport you to the various sites?

Sandy - welcome to the forum! We were in Rome last month and stayed near Piazza Navona, about halfway between the Colosseum and St. Peter’s. We weren’t really close to any metro stations but we could walk to most places. There are also taxi stands along the main streets like Corso Vittorio Emanuele II so it was easy to get a taxi when our knees gave out. If you’re further east or north you could walk to a metro station and ride to the Ottaviano station. Good luck with the trip!

Thank @johnt for the very helpful tips. I am trying to select a hotel and reading all the reviews on Trip Advisor, Booking.now, etc., and it is overwhelming! I was looking for a 5 star hotel that is a short walk to restaurants, or has multiple dining options onsite if we don't feel like walking. Any recommendations?

Vatican as well as see other sites like the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Roman Forum. I would suggest staying in the Centro Storico, the historical center somewhere between Piazza Navona & Campo di Fiori, not close to the Vatican. I'm assuming you'll only spend one day at the Vatican, whereas the center has many restaurants and beautiful fountains to take in & to wander, and that's closer to where the other sites you listed are located. I know there's a brilliant hotel in front of the Piazza Navona main fountain, with an excellent restaurant, but it's not in our budget, so don't recall the name.

Sandy - any hotel that’s officially rated with 5 stars will be beautiful, offer multiple onsite dining options, and have a concierge who can handle any request you may have. Unfortunately it will be way above my price range so I don’t have any specific recommendations but if you can swing it, it will be hard to go wrong!
