I have one night that is not booked, any suggestions. Here is what I have so far. Been in Rome for 6 days then a week in Montepulciano. Check out on Sat. the 28th of June from Montepulciano and have a reservation for the 29th near the airport. Where and what to do for that one night. Is Naples to far from Montepulciano? Would we just be wasting time in the car? I might could squeeze Naples in during our time in Rome. I have an open day with nothing scheduled. Thought that might be nice but I could add Naples????
Would appreciate any advice and or suggestions.

Dana,
I suggest you look at a good map of Italy and get an idea of the geographic location of Montepulciano, Rome, and Naples.
Which airport are you flying out of? Naples is a bit of a haul south of Rome. Montepulciano is north of Rome.
We are flying out of Rome, Fiumicino.
Think about Orvieto. Its a one hour train ride and its a wonderful place to spend a night. We stayed at the Ripa Medici, great view, good price. I think Montepulciano is is a little to far north for a day and Naples is too far south but it is accessible by Euro Star. which I think is an hour and a half from Rome.
You can feasibly do a day trip to Naples area from Rome. In my opinion, the town of Naples is not a must-see but Pompeii definitely is. I think with an early morning and a late night, you could do it in one rushed day.
