We are 2 adults, 2 teenagers picking up a car in La Spezia and heading to an agriturismo in Montepulciano for 4 nights. We would like to stop by Pisa and Lucca on the way down, then spend 1 night somewhere near San Gimingnano, or Volterra vicinity, so we can see those towns the following day. Looking for 150$ ballpark price, either a B&B or agriturismo or even a hostel if there is a nice one.
Any suggestions? Is this too much to pack in?

It's doable but it's a lot in less than 2 days.
If you want to do it, you should stay in the Val d''Era (Era Valley) near Volterra, which is closer from Pisa/Lucca.
The Volterrana road is really curvy when you start going up, so be careful at night.
Not sure if there are agriturismos that would rent only for one night in the area. Most rent by the week or at least 3 days.
