Where to spend a few extra days after Mediterranean cruise

We are planning a cruise that will begin in Barcelona and end in Venice. We'll spend a few days in Barcelona before getting on the ship and would like to extend the vacation at the end also. The cruise will take us to Toulon, Florence, Rome (we've been to both of these before), Naples, Mykonos, Istanbul, Kusadasi, Athens and then Venice (we've been here before also). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks...and, here's to travelling!

Verona, Ravenna, Vicenza, Ferrara, Lake Garda if you want more water. You could choose any as a base (Ravenna may not have the best connections) and take daytrips.

I like Zoe's ideas (as I usually do). Bologna is a good base if you want to do day trips . . . Ravenna, Ferrara, Padua.

What month are you traveling in? And does the stay after the cruise have to be in Italy. You could head from Venice up into the Swiss Alps for a few days and say return flight from Zurich to the states

Where are flying home from? I agree with Zoe. There are a lot of good locations for Venice you can visit. If you plan on flying home from somewhere else, there will certainly be lots of suggestions near there as well.

Stay in Venice. I don't know how many times you have been there, but it is not enough lol

Go to Burano and walk around - It's a lovely place we only visited the first this year. We will certainly go back.
