where to spend 4 days after Sorrento & Rome?

Flying into Naples, spending 1wk in Sorrento to visit all the sites & Am.coast
then 4days in Rome. We would like to spend 4 days elsewhere before flying home fron Naples. Do not want to venture too far..somewhere scenic & relaxing would consider renting a car.

Lise,
We flew into to Rome and drove to Naples and stayed for 4 days..that was plenty of time to see the sites ie: Capri, Sorento, Postano and Amalfi. We then drove along the Adriatic coast and stayed in Rimini for one night, then to Venice for 4 days, then to florence for 1 week, then back to Rome for 4 days and home to Seattle from there. We rented a car and had the best time driving throughout the country. I thought it was more expensive to fly into Naples..Rome was very convenient.

Anyway..enough about my trip...

Explore Umbria - the green heart of Italy. This region isn't a touristy as Tuscany and has an amazing countryside. Visit Orvieto, Assisi, Spoleto

Lise: You're flying into and out of Naples, doing Amalfi and Rome, and are asking where can you spend 4 more days where you, understandably, "don't want to venture too far" from the area between Rome and Amalfi. That's a good plan and I'm going to assume you would like, if possible, to limit the added destination to "not too far" from Naples: based on that, here's what I'd suggest as possibilities for you to choose from:Pompeii/Vesuvius if you haven't already done themNaplesAbruzzo National Park east of RomeTivoli (close to Rome)CasamariMontecassinoFossanovaCastelli RomaniSan Angelo in FormisReggia di CasertaYou can do most of these while home-basing somewhere between Rome and Naples. All of these are between Rome and Naples, more or less--so they don't take you too far from where you need to fly out of.

If you want scenic and relaxing, take the 30 minute ferry to the island of Procida in the gulf of Naples. You won't need a car as the island is small and you can walk everywhere. Has some nice beaches and no tourists.
