We'll have a rental car in Italy, but don't want to drive into the heart of Rome. We'd like to leave it somewhere near to Rome, safe, and on a train route (so we can get into Rome easily). Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch! Scott

Many people seem to park at the Orvieto train station. I have not done it. If I were thinking about it, it would make me focus on how secure that parking area is, especially for overnight. And I wouldn't leave anything in my car that I couldn't afford to lose.Another option is parking at the Fiumicino airport. I have not done either of these but that is what people report here that they are doing. Maybe Ron will have a better answer for you.

We actually did park in Orvieto several years ago, but we were hoping to get closer (a short train ride) this year. Thanks, Scott

Airport is a shorter train ride. I think there's a station at Orte, between Orvieto and Rome, but I don't know anything about parking there, security, etc.
