Where to park a rental in Cinque Terre?

Hello there!

My husband and I will be heading off to our long-awaited honeymoon in less than 2 weeks. We will be flying into Milan and staying the evening, before picking up a rental car that we will use to take us to the Cinque Terre, Portofino Peninsula, Langhe and Aosta Valley.

All places we are staying throughout our trip have parking besides Vernazza. The last time I stayed in the Cinque Terre I trained there, so I am not as familiar with parking. What do individuals who have done this before suggest? Should we try for the small surface lot outside of Vernazza, or are we better off going for parking at La Spezia or Levanto? Will the car be safe?

In La Spezia there's a modern secure Centro Park facility under the La Spezia Centrale train station (23€ or 18€ with reservation per day 1/2018), and 200 m. away from Centrale there's also a Private Parking facility (12€ per day 1/2018). There's a modern secure outdoor lot at Porto Mirabella quite near the dock for the Cinque Terre ferry. There's a new modern secure underground parking facility under Piazza Europa close to the waterfront (15€ per day 1/2018). There's free outdoor parking at Piazza d'Armi and PalaSport at differing distances from downtown. Secure means with video surveillance – but still don't leave anything in the car overnight that's essential to your trip and don't ever leave any belongings visible from outside the vehicle.

Parking would be a bit easier if you were staying in Monterosso. In addition to the two lots in Monterosso shown in the internet link in the previous reply), several hotels offer limited guest parking (first come, first served in most cases).

Thank you so much everyone! Seeing as we are basing in Vernazza, should we perhaps park in nearby Monterosso then for a quick train ride over? (and yes, I had considered basing there, but I have the MOST amazing airb&b in all of the Cinque Terre in Vernazza and it's my favorite town haha). That also leaves our car in the right direction, as after our stay in Vernazza we move onward to Camogli where we will have parking.
