Where to meet my daughter for a few days within reach of Naples?

Hello Travelers,

My wife and I are booked on a RS south Italy tour in the spring, mid-April, which ends in Naples. Our daughter who lives in Berlin is going to fly in and meet us at the end of the tour. We've been to Italy a few times over the years so we have a pretty good sense of the culture. Although we are excited to see Naples, we want to spend time with our daughter in a quieter location.

Our daughter can fly into Naples, Rome, or possibly other cities. My wife and I will be traveling by train from Naples. Does anyone have any good ideas where ewe might rendezvous and enjoy a rather peaceful Italian setting for 3 to 5 days? I've been looking at the Amalfi coast, but I'm pretty sure that might be a little too hectic, even in April, and besides, our tour spends a couple nights in Sorrento. I've thought of making tracks for Orvieto, because we loved it on a previous visit, and it looks to be a manageable train ride from Naples and/or Rome if our daughter lands there. She, however, would prefer a coastal location.

Hi Steven, Giangilberto here, from Milan, I've been in that area such many times, Naples is one of the best city in the world in my opinion, I recommend you to stay there, even if your daugher fly to Rome, would be less than 1 hour with the Frecciarossa train to Naples, you could find an hotel or airbnb entire home in the Vomero area, the one that I love most there, and then decide to travel to Amalfi/Sorrento coast and enjoy it, spring would be amazing, the temperature starts to be a little higher, less turism than summer, for me this could be a winning plan, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, have a good day

Last September we spent five quiet, peaceful days in Massa Lubrense. It was my second visit there.

If you really REALLY like a quiet location, this is it. We took the ferry from Naples to Sorrento then hired a car to Massa Lubrense, but you can also get there by bus in about fifteen minutes. It is a quiet town but with the same stunning views of the Bay as in Sorrento. There is a marina where you can get a ferry to Capri and other excursions. Also some secluded little beaches.

If you want a lively scene with lots of tourists and bustling activity, this isn't it, but it is far less expense than Sorrento and well off the beaten path.

A great family activity is to do an agricultural tour which includes a meal which is totally produced on the farm (a family runs this farm - the son gives the tour and the Mama prepares the meal, complete with homemade limoncello.) Our son's family also did this last year and said it was one of the highlights of their entire trip to Italy.

I’m with Giangilberto, but Naples is really out, you could stay in Salerno. Or get a little further afield in Maratea. What does daughter say aside from coastal? Everywhere smaller will be fairly quiet in April.
I’ve spent time on Cilento, but I don’t think April would be ideal.

Thanks for the ideas, friends. Thinking .... thinking ... yes, Naples is probably out, Gaeta looks interesting, thanks .... so does Massa Lubrense, thanks ... but now considering Ischia, anyone have an insights there? Too cold in April? Also considering returning to the Amalfi coast despite having been there on the tour, maybe Amalfi itself or Atrani, or one of those towns Rick is recommending in his book, Minori. But I'm unsure how easy it is to get to these places in April on public transport. Looks like you can get a boat from Salerno, but I haven't checked yet if they are running yet in April. Any additional feedback or ideas are very welcome.
