Driving completely around Sicily this coming spring and need to park my rental car in Palermo for 2 days. Everyone is telling me not to drive into Palermo; but the car rental company in Catania ( where I am picking up the car and returning it ) does not have a location in Palermo. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You need to tell us where exactly you are staying in Palermo.
If I know the exact address I can find you a pay parking garage where your car can be safely parked during your stay (assuming you are staying at a hotel without parking).
A car is indeed unnecessary in Palermo. Some portions of the city center are within the ZTL (limited traffic zone) therefore only authorized cars with permit can enter, also street parking is difficult in much of the city and traffic is very congested at peak hours.
