We will be in Rome/Sorrento/Venice in Oct. 2019; looking to do a 2 night stay in Tuscany area; is Siena the best choice or can anyone recommend better/hotel suggestions, etc. Forgot to mention that we've been to Florence before so are not planning it this time. THANKS.
There is lots about Siena to recommend it. And 2 nights can be sufficient. Besides the usual churches, museums and restaurants, I like walking through the various neighborhoods. I tend to use the Campo as my center - hey, it works for the residents. One year I rented an apartment and it was great. Other years I have stayed (and will stay there again this year) at Alma Domus, a convent-run hotel. Their recent renovations have helped. Get a room with a balcony view of the Duomo - it's really spectacular.
