Where to go between Siena and Rome?

I will be in Italy for 2 weeks. I am beginning to plan an itinary. I will be in Siena for 2 days, then I don't know where for 2 days, then in Rome for 3 days. Any suggestions where I could spend my 2 days between Siena and Rome?

Thanks!

We are just back from two weeks in Italy and my recommendation is to add another day to your time in Rome. We went to Venice, Florence and Rome and also had 2 extra days before Rome, which we spent in Orvieto (hilltown in Umbria). Orvieto would have been a good day trip, 2 days was too much time there. We had 4 days in Rome, and could have spent 4 weeks and not seen everything we wanted to see. Ancient Rome is just amazing.

Have fun.

Not knowing the rest of your itinerary, the simplest route from Siena to Rome is through Florence. If you already have time planned there, then I suggest adding a day each in Rome and Siena rather than trying to cram in another destination.

Yes, Florence is North, but the easiest train/bus connections take you through Florence, taking advantage of fast and frequent trains between Florence and Rome and frequent buses between Florence and Siena.
