Where to get Rome BUS maps?

When arriving at FCO, or Rome Termini, in March*, where can I pick up a paper copy of the Rome bus system map ..for not just the 'touristic center', but also the larger metro area?

I've discovered large 'pdf' versions at www.atac.roma.it/index.asp?p=2 ..so hardcopy versions must exist, no? [Bus System maps are often available in NYC,or here in MSP, from bus drivers.]

  • When I fist visited Rome for a 'walkabout' in MARCH 2008, several 'info' desks that might be well stocked during the 'tourist' season had little material in stock (no Roma Pass!). This trip, I plan to ride the various bus routes out of curiosity, but since an 'outward' route might 'return' on a different street, I'd want a map to give me a clue.

I'd send a message to Ron in Rome. He's been very helpful in answering questions that I had about travel in Rome.

There is indeed an ATAC Rome map which specifically covers all the bus, metro, and tram lines (even has an index naming all the lines, all their stops, etc). It's not free though, I believe it costs about 5 or 6 Euro and you can get it at any edicola (news stand) in the airport, train station, or throughout the city.
