Where to find Rick Steves City Guide to Rome in Europe?

Hello,

I'm currently in Greece and have absolutely loved using Rick's Athens guide book. Now I really want one for Rome. Does anybody know where to find one in Rome or Athens? Are they available electronically? Not ideal, but I guess an ebook off Itunes would be better than nothing.

Thanks,
Matt

Contact the Rick Steves website. Tell them which cities you will be in and they will respond with a list of booksellers carrying RS guides.

Hi Matt,

I was just on the Ron in Rome website yesterday and noticed he had posted a number of bookstores in Rome where English titles are available. Not sure if the Rick Steves guidebooks are among the items sold, but it might be taking a look at his website to narrow down places to start looking. Good luck!

I can offer two ideas: (1) Go to www.books.google.com and/or search Google for Rick Steves Rome 2009 and click on the www.books.google.com link for his book. While the entire book is not viewable, large chunks of it will be…check it out. (2) I have noticed that several of Rick’s recommended lodgings I have stayed at over the years had copies of his books somewhere on site…reading room, front desk, breakfast room, etc. That might be another option for you. And, of course, you may be able to find a copy in a bookstore in Rome. Good luck!

The 2009 edition is only available in Limited Preview through Google Search, to protect Rick's copyright rights. If you access that edition online more than a limited # of pages, it will cut off your access. So that's not going to work for what you need.

What I'd suggest is contacting the Rick Steves staff, click Contact Us below and send a msg to them or faster to phone them, and ask at which Rome stores the book is sold, if any, they'll know (there a limited demand for travel books in English, in Rome). This will save you from wasting the time running around Rome to all the English book stores and maybe not finding one in the end.
