I am doing a day trip to Civita di Bagnoregio in mid-June and am looking for a restaurant recommendations. Thinking some place with a view would be nice. Will have a car and happy to eat before taking the hike into the town or after. Let me know what you think! Looking for some place authentic and affordable but if the view is good enough affordable is less important.
emily,
Civita di Bagnoregio is very small, so there aren't a huge number of choices in places to eat. I don't remember any of them having a "view". I've dined at Trattoria Antico Forno and quite enjoyed it. Have a look when you get there and decide then.
Not counting the hike in, it won't take you more than 90 minutes or so to walk around most of Civita di Bagnoregio. Eat before you hike into town, or pack a picnic and look for a quiet corner. I don't remember any place with decent food. You'll find gelato, and pizza mostly. I stopped at a bar on the main piazza and sat with my wine and view of the church. I waited to eat a decent meal when I returned to Orvieto for the night.
Enjoy!
You might try TripAdvisor to see whether there are any reviews for Bagnoregio. I think I recall some casual places.
We had really good bruschetta at the old olive mill while in Civita. The name of the place escapes me but not hard to find. Marti, I think we sat at that same bar with a glass of wine, but we also had the torta di ciliegie. A combo I'll not soon forget.
